Summary

The Empress Cemetery Register says that he was "indigent", and the "order" for his plot was the day after he was buried.  It is The Empress Express article (below), which has good information, saying that he died from influenza and was "assistant at the east ferry".

I am assuming that he died nearby, but I cannot find him in the Alberta or Saskatchewan Death Registers.  Searched Alberta Death Register for "Monahan", "Monahon" and "Monaghan".  Saskatchewan Death Register has no one with any of those three names at all.

First Death from Influenza
     ---
The first death to be recorded in the neighboring district, from influenza, is that of W. R. Monahon, assistant at the east ferry.  Deceased died on Saturday, after a short illness.  He was about 36 years of age and apparently has no immediate relatives here.  The remains were interred in the Empress cemetery on Sunday, October 27. - "The silver cord is loosed the dust has returned to the earth as it was, the spirit has returned to the God who gave it."
